Congratulations on making a step toward your wellness. You are already connecting with your resilience and drive to grow. It can feel exciting and also scary to start a new therapy relationship and I commend your courage. Below you will find general information about the process of starting therapy with me and answers to frequently asked questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
To start therapy with me:
Please contact me by phone, email or by filling out the contact form if you are interested in working with me. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to assess whether I may be a good fit for your treatment needs.
The next step will be to schedule an initial evaluation session. This session will be around 55-60 minutes and will include assessment of your goals, symptoms and strengths. I will also inquire about your personal history and cultural identities. I will answer your questions about my approach to therapy and give you feedback about what I think might help you reach your goals. Sometimes we need two sessions to accomplish all this.
The initial evaluation is also opportunity for us to start getting to know each other in order to determine if we may be a good fit to work together. Determining fit is an important phase of therapy and I prefer not to rush this step. It may take us several more sessions (usually 3-5) to assess the workability of our relationship. If either of us determines that we are not a good fit to work together, I will provide you with referral options.
Once we schedule the initial appointment I will send you a link to electronic paperwork for you to complete before our first session.

I am out of network with all private insurance plans. Some insurance companies will reimburse you for a percentage of the fee with Out of Network benefits. I am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company. To inquire about your Out of Network benefits, call the phone number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions...
Inquiring about out-of-network insurance reimbursement:
Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits?
What is the deductible for my behavioral health benefits?
What percentage of what I pay to my doctor will be reimbursed to me?
Is there a session limit?
